ANOTHER Ear Infection

This past Saturday we awoke to discover that Ms. Taylor had some nice green boogers crusting her eyes shut. After ungluing her little eyelids to be sure there were no signs of pinkeye, I simply wrote it off as a sinus infection, probably triggered by allergies. My local homies can attest, the pollen has been baaaaad here. Well, after a fun filled weekend (including an accidental stop in at Fiesta) of dragging our boogery little baby all over San Antonio, we finally made it to the pediatrician this morning. Surprise, it's another ear infection! The eye goo is actually coming up and out FROM HER EARS. EEEEEWWWWWW!!!!!!! Since Taylor is overachieving in the ear infection department, we now get to go see an ear nose and throat doctor. I'm hoping to bribe them into going ahead with the tubes, poor baby is miserable and I'm sick of pumping her full of antibiotics every month.

On a happier note, Taylor is moving and grooving with the best of them now. This morning Jody walked in to her room to discover that she was already standing up in her crib! Since this morning she is pulling herself up on anything she can get those grubby little hands on. Yeah, life is about to get a little trickier! She is cruising around on the furniture like a seasoned pro too, and I predict that she'll be walking solo by the end of May. She also has a new sleeping position, on her tummy with her butt up in the air. It's so funny, she looks like a little doodle bug! But stay tuned for updates, I'm trying to be better. Plus, we've got a few family visits, etc. coming in the very near future.

Pedicure on our toes-toes! Yeah, try painting a baby's toenails as she squirms ALL over. This will probably be our last pedicure for a couple of years.

See, this is what I love about San Antonio. This booth at Fiesta was not, I repeat NOT a joke. These people are dead serious!

Posing with Daddy at Fiesta.

Hmmm, what's on the front of that hat?

Ms. Doodle-butt!

Face plant! She came by this one honestly, both Jody and I are face-sleepers!

Nine Months

Wow. This year really is zipping by. Taylor is now NINE freakin' months old. We have discovered in the last couple of days that she actually can sorta crawl (its more of an inchworm type of motion though), and she's just about ready to let go of the furniture and take off running on her own. The balance is mostly there now, but we still gotta work on confidence. Our biggest hurdle is Taylor's own frustration. She wants to go and do, but just can't quite get there and winds up pitching a fit and giving up. Perseverance is our friend these days. At her nine month checkup she is now 28 1/2 inches tall and still holding strong at 20 lbs. We are also trying out a new medicine that's to treat allergies (yeah, Jody and I can't smell anything other than snot from March thru June. Poor kid was screwed on both sides.), hopefully that will help with some of the respiratory issues she's been having too. I'm still in denial that my baby's first birthday is right around the corner. Guess I better start thinking of some ideas for a party pretty damn quick!

Ok, if I smile do you promise to get that camera outta my face?

Chillin' with Mama.

Wedding Weekend

This weekend we stayed in the lovely cities of Hondo and Castroville for my dear friend Jessica's wedding. Due to the timing of the ceremony we decided it would be best for everyone if Taylor didn't make this trip with us; so, as an added bonus Jody and I got to have an all grown-ups weekend! Originally we were going to stay both nights at the Hondo Executive Inn, but due to some uninvited roommates (see pics below), we decided to suck it up and get a room at the Landmark Inn for Saturday. The wedding was a BLAST, and I am proud to say that my homie was one of the most beautiful brides I've ever seen. Jody and I danced so much that my legs are sore and poor Jody's crappy dress shoes rubbed giant blisters on his heels! Enjoy the pics below, I would apologize for all the goofy poses, but hey - you guys know how we roll. You should be prepared!

Our "roommates" at the hotel. Yes, those are giant COCKROACHES inside of the bathroom light fixture. And they would squirm around and try to escape every time you turned on the light. Eeeeeeew!

I swear to you, this guys's name is Asshole Joe. You don't hear that one very often, so I had to take a pic.

Kristin and I giving an encore performance of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" since we created a bit of a fan base after the bachelorette party.

Me and my hubby, all dressed up!

West coast! Either that or poster girls for rheumatoid arthritis......

Statue of Liberty poses.

"But mama, I ain't got stockins' on." Ok, if you don't know that quote I'm revoking your redneck card.

Jess and me.

See, this is why he doesn't take me out of the house anymore.

X-ray homies. We totally see right through you!

Weekend With Lovie and Poppy

This weekend while we were dancing the night away at Jess's wedding, Taylor got to spend some quality time hanging out with Lovie and Poppy (aka - my mom and Dan). They took her up to Blanco to get "real bluebonnet pics" and also to Fredericksburg since they were in the 'hood. Taylor did great for them all weekend (whew!), and even made some big strides in learning to walk and crawl.

Ok, I remember these. Last time they DID NOT taste good.

Proud grandma!

Taylor and Poppy became pretty tight this weekend. I think a mutual love of ice cream may have helped that along even further!

Flying around the house with the stick elephant Lovie bought.

Hey, wait a second! You said you would hang on to me!

Taylor's First Easter

Well, I guess we were all very good little bunnies this year, because the Easter Bunny did make a visit to our humble abode to drop off some goodies. He may or may not have even left some Cadbury eggs to keep me away from Taylor's candy. After checking out the fun stuff we went to do lunch and Easter eggs in one of the local parks. Even though it was a crappy and cloudy day, Taylor still managed to get a mild sunburn (wonder-parents didn't even think to apply sunscreen). But, I'll let the pictures do all the talking, enjoy!

Taylor's easter goodies. The barn thing is Easter eggs that are shaped like farm animals. This is what happens when you wait til the night before to do your shopping.

What the hell is this thing?

Ohhhh, I get it! It's a super nasty marshmallow chicken! Yeah, Taylor makes three people in the house that don't like Peeps.

Back off, this is all mine.

So excited for our picnic.

Are you sure these are supposed to be shaped like pigs?

Taylor tried her damnedest to get into the Smartees.

Posing with the Bluebonnets.

Pumped up on sugar and fresh air. Easter rocks!

Junky Munkie

Once again, Taylors rendezvous with RSV over Christmas continues to be the gift that keeps on giving. This past week I had to keep Taylor at home from daycare due to some very cruddy sounding lungs and a low grade fever. Poor kid was crabby as all hell too, so you could tell that she just didn't feel good. After a visit to the pediatrician we discovered that a number of respiratory bugs are going around this year, and apparently already having RSV once and going to daycare has made Taylor a magnet for illness. For the time being she is on not one, but two different inhalers. Another unfortunate side effect is the fact that sleep seems to be a miserable task for her as well. She has spent several nights waking herself (and us) up from coughing. It even got so bad one night I totally caved and stuck her in bed with us just so that we could get some rest. She is slowly starting to bounce back, but unfortunately this bug has hit her fairly hard, and she is still junky sounding and also really cranky. Hopefully it will pass soon, and maybe we can get through the last little bit of spring without any more bugs!

Lounging on the couch watching, "Wonder Pets." Since she had to stay home a day I wanted her to be a little sedentary.

Poor thing, you can tell by the red and watery eyes that something is amiss.
