Hee-hee! I love a chubby baby! Taylor zonked out for a few minutes last night while waiting to get her evening bath. She had just spit up all over her clothes and since she was going to get bathed soon after, I didn't see much point in re-dressing her.

Father-Daughter Time
Jody and Taylor were having some "quality" time the other night. It's so fun to watch them interact. There's just something amazing that happens when your manly-man husband gets turned to mush by a tiny little baby. I can't wait til she gets older and starts dragging him into playing dress up with her!
Watching the History Channel. She already enjoys it more than her mother (I usually fall immediately asleep!).

Get a Grip!
Last night Taylor was playing in her floor gym and managed to finally get a grab on one of the toys! What she has is a monkey rattle, and once she got him by the leg she hung on for dear life. It was so cute to watch her yank him around, and it was also nice to see her grab onto something besides my hair!
I've got you right where I want you!
The monkey has a monkey by the leg.
I'll never let go Jack!
Sink Bath
Last night Taylor had a right of passage that I'm pretty sure every person on this planet has experienced - the kitchen sink bath. Jody was busy working on a project for his job and was therefore unavailable for a shower, so we rocked out the kitchen sink instead! I have to say she seemed to like it WAY better than the little baby tub we have, and didn't fuss one bit. I don't really think it will become a regular thing though, the shower is just so much faster and more convenient!
In other news, I start back to work this Tuesday, and I'm NOT looking forward to dropping my baby off at daycare that morning. Even just thinking about having to leave her for the day already makes me want to cry! To all my friends that are stay at home moms, I envy you.

Lovin' the Bumbo
I bought Taylor a Bumbo chair today, as you can see below, she absolutely LOVES it! Can't you just see the look of joy and contentment written all over her face? No really, she does like it, I just decided to take these pictures right before it was time for her to eat, and her patience was a little thin.
Night Night and Tummy Time
Here are a few pictures we took last night and this morning. I made Jody take one of Taylor and me because I think there are only like two in existence (guess who's usually taking the pictures!). Also, I had mentioned that Taylor can lift herself up onto her elbows, and the last two pics are me attempting to document that. Unfortunately, my camera sucks, and every time I would push the button there is a one or two second delay. Just long enough for me to catch a shot of her on her way back down instead of propped up high! Oh the frustration!

Stupid camera! Half a second earlier and her arms were straight!

Jody vs. Taylor
Last Week at Home :(
Well, I realized yesterday that my time as a stay at home mom is rapidly coming to a close. I took Taylor up to her daycare yesterday to turn in her paperwork so that she'll be ready to go on the 1st. I'm already dreading having to drop her off that morning, and I'm sure that first day away from her is going to be pure hell. Thankfully the ladies that run it told me to call and check in if I want (apparently that's a pretty common thing among some of their parents) and it's no problem at all. But, I think it will be good for me to get back into working and have some sort of structure to my day again. Plus, it'll be nice to hang out with grown ups again!
Taylor is now almost 7 weeks old! She can push herself up onto her elbows and holds her head up very well now. She also is very efficient at scooting herself up with her feet when she's on her tummy. I have tried and tried to upload some video of her doing this, but all of a sudden our camcorder isn't Mac compatible so I can't seem to get it to work (Jody's PC craptop won't upload it either, it freezes up every time). So, you're all just going to have to take my word for it that she is a pro at tummy time.
We're also starting to look at rent houses, our lease is finally up and this apartment is getting smaller by the day! I'm not quite ready to commit to buying a house, since Jody's job has moved us twice in the last 3 years. Plus, I'm just not ready to admit defeat and call San Antonio our permanent home.
Red cheeked monkey! Poor baby's acne is starting to look more like a rash!
Jody and Taylor. She already knows how to strike a pose like a pro!

More Grandparents!
This weekend Jody's parents came to visit us. It was the first time Taylor got to meet Grandpa, and I know she was excited to see her Grammy again. We went to the Alamo, and the Riverwalk Friday. Then Saturday we ate lunch at Mi Tierra and then did some shopping in Market Square. The shopping was the most fun, I bought us some super cool hats (see below). Jody was such a sport! He actually wore that hat the whole time we were walking around. I laughed when one of the store owners asked us where we were from, and if we were enjoying our time in Texas! Gotta love it when you look like dorky tourists in your own home state!

Finally! A Solution!
They always say it has to get worse before it gets better. Well, this Saturday I think we hit the peak of worse. Taylor was keeping nothing down, and cried all day long. Poor thing refused to take any of her naps and was chewing her hands frantically and crying as soon as she spit up. So, we would feed again, she would spit up and the cycle started all over again. In the middle of all of this I did manage to leave the house briefly (God bless Jody for taking on the challenge by himself for a little while) to get a couple of items at the store. On a whim while I was there I went to check out the formula to see if maybe anything over there might offer some help. I found that they make a formula that's thickened for babies that spit up frequently. I figured it's worth a shot and bought a small can. For the first time in weeks Taylor actually held all of it down and went to sleep! Since the switchover she has been a completely different kid. Wakes up and fusses just a little (not the frantic screaming of before), and only spits up a very small amount when she eats. We are still going to schedule her upper GI just to be on the safe side, but I'm pretty sure we've found our solution. As a result of our switch, I have stopped breast feeding, there's no sense in me continuing to pump when she can't eat the stuff. I am a little disappointed that I wasn't able to nurse her for as long as I had originally intended, but she did get 5 good weeks of nursing in, so I figure that's better than none at all. Plus, a content and healthy baby is more than a fair trade!

Shower Time!
On the suggestion of my friend Deawn we started bathing Taylor in the shower with Jody. It's SO much faster, and she doesn't get as cold. Plus if she poops in there I don't have to drain the water and start over! She seems to enjoy it a lot more than the tub baths, which certainly doesn't hurt matters either.
The reason for the towel is to have a better grip. Wet babies are SLIPPERY!
Wash the back!
She really does love this!

What do Monkeys Wear to Bed?
Monkey jammies of course! Jody has called Taylor "Monkey" ever since we brought her home, and the nickname has just stuck. So when I saw these cute monkey pj's at Target yesterday I decided that she just had to have them! The only thing is that after I got them on her I realized they kinda make her look like a little boy. Oh well, we know the truth!
New Toy
I bought Taylor an activity gym yesterday because I honestly don't really know what we're supposed to do with her when she's awake. Everything I've read online recommends mirrors and brightly colored things and the gym I found has both, so I see it as a good investment! Once she saw her reflection in the mirror she was hooked (I guess vanity starts early!). She wasn't as pumped about all of the dangling toys yet, but I know that will come in time. In the name of science I flipped her on her tummy to see how she would do. I am proud to report she can now lift her head a little bit for a few seconds at a time. After a couple of minutes though, she starts pushing with her legs instead and wound up scooting across the mat on her forehead! Also, for those of you with pets, I've discovered that most baby toys, especially the ones that dangle, double as EXCELLENT cat toys (whether you want your cat to play with them or not!).
Alice REALLY did not want to share.
Checking it all out
I know it's a little blurry, but her head was pretty wobbly the whole time she held it up.
Look at me!

It's been a little hectic around the Robinson house this week. Taylor went back to the doctor last week because the spitting up was not getting any better. After some negotiating, the doctor agreed to hold off on doing an upper GI on her (I feel guilty exposing her to radiation so early. God only knows how much she may have gotten while I was pregnant.) and just increased her medication dose since she gained 11 oz just in the span of a week. Fortunately, the dose increase has been enough to help her to keep down more and she is chunking up quite nicely. Per our bathroom scales she is in the 9 lb. range now, and it shows! She is no longer able to wear any of her newborn size clothes and has officially graduated to 3 month size.
In other news, I start back to work September 1. We already have a wonderful daycare lined up with a nearby Lutheran church (the majority of the workers are retired grandmothers who have been working there 15+ years) that happens to be just a small detour on my way to work. I can't believe that I go back in less than a month, my time at home has gone by too fast!
Taylor was also visited by Grandma Lovie (aka - my mom), Poppy Dan, and aunts Lauren and Rachel this past weekend. She really enjoyed seeing new people, and we had a great time seeing our family and playing games. For those of you who haven't played Scattergories lately, I recommend knocking the dust off of it and breaking it out. We had a blast!
Not quite awake yet in the morning, where's my coffee?
Taylor hanging out with her homies, "Mike" & "Ted" while I fix breakfast (Ted is the rabbit, Mike is the bear).
She digs watching me make coffee!
