It's Potty Time!

Most of you know that we attempted potty training over New Year's weekend with zero success, and a lot of Resolve carpet cleaner. I decided then and there that we would wait and let Taylor come around to the idea as opposed to me thinking it was time. We have bought potty books and videos in hopes of sparking some interest on her part, and until recently they've also been of no use. However, this Monday night, Taylor and I were reading "Dora's Potty Book," and she was so excited to push the button that makes the flushing sound over and over. So I thought, what the hell, lets give it another go. I took her into the bathroom, and we watched the toilet flush a few times, then with her diaper on, I let her sit on the potty and play with her toys.

This went over pretty well, and after she got down she wanted to climb back up. I figured, well since we're here, let's see if maybe she'll pee in the potty. In the name of science, it would be neglectful not to at least try. So we shucked the diaper and sat back down, and she continued to sit there off and on (climbing up and down was apparently the best part) for about 30 minutes. Unfortunately we didn't get anything appropriate in the toilet (in the climbing up process, her right leg was successfully baptized though), but I think its a start! I hate to admit it, but I'm also afraid we may have to resort to an actual potty chair (aka - mini bedside commode to anyone who's ever worked in a hospital). The whole idea of a potty chair absolutely grosses me out to no end, but she's still a little too short to climb up onto the toilet by herself without getting any limbs in the water. So I figure, if it works, I'll suck it up and get one.

Scoping it out.

Trying to get up on the potty by herself. This was a bit tricky, and didn't end well.

Hey, this isn't so bad. Note that Thumper had to come along for this new adventure, I'm sure he was thrilled.
