Sunday Funday
This past Sunday we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather (And the fact that as heathens living in the Bible Belt, you can enjoy solitude just about anywhere that's not a church on Sunday mornings.) and we loaded up and headed to the park. I must say, this time Taylor had a LOT more fun than when we took her last summer; this time she was even excited to climb on the equipment as opposed to sitting and playing in the gravel. Seriously, this kid was a blur climbing, sliding, running. I was ever so thankful that Jody came along, because there was no way I would be nimble enough to keep up with her on my own.
The only thing about visiting the park is that it is in fact a free, public domain. Any old creep can come right on up and you have literally no say-so. Enter the meth-head family. After we'd been there for about 10 minutes this super cute little boy appears with the most jacked-up looking family I've seen in a long time. Mom was probably in her twenties, but only had about 4 teeth left. Dad was in his late forties (or at least looked that old), and rolled up in a cab. And then, the piece de resistance, dear Uncle who was loudly arguing on his phone with his mother that he didn't answer her call the prior night because he was passed out drunk. Then he continued to tell her that because he was an alcoholic now (I guess this is a recent development?), he passes out drunk every night. Yeah, they were charming to say the least.
The only shot I could get that wasn't of the back of her head as she was running away.
Tunnel rat.
See? The kid was a blur.
The only time she would let Jody ride with her on the slide. My little Evel Knieval preferred to go it alone, and even managed to climb up to the top on her own.

Dear Sleep, I Miss You.
Yes, you are reading the posting time on this correct, 1:15 in the A.M. I honestly don't remember the last time I was coherent at this hour. But alas, the sleep robbers of pregnancy have decided to plague me early this time around, and even though I zonked out on the couch with relative ease early in the night, once I moved into my bed I was unable to get comfortable thanks to my old pal, heartburn. Looks like we're going to get reacquainted much earlier than I had hoped for, and the bonus to this whole situation is that I get to wake up in four hours to get ready for work tomorrow, yippee!
So, what does one do when you're knocked up and can't sleep? Well, I've already read part of a book, and watched "Urban Cowboy," now I'm trolling the internets (which are lame on a Saturday night since all the normal folks are sleeping or out doing fun things). Needless to say, I'm seeing a nap on my agenda tomorrow the minute I hit the door after work.

Taylor and me passed out on the couch earlier tonight.

It's Potty Time!
Most of you know that we attempted potty training over New Year's weekend with zero success, and a lot of Resolve carpet cleaner. I decided then and there that we would wait and let Taylor come around to the idea as opposed to me thinking it was time. We have bought potty books and videos in hopes of sparking some interest on her part, and until recently they've also been of no use. However, this Monday night, Taylor and I were reading "Dora's Potty Book," and she was so excited to push the button that makes the flushing sound over and over. So I thought, what the hell, lets give it another go. I took her into the bathroom, and we watched the toilet flush a few times, then with her diaper on, I let her sit on the potty and play with her toys.
This went over pretty well, and after she got down she wanted to climb back up. I figured, well since we're here, let's see if maybe she'll pee in the potty. In the name of science, it would be neglectful not to at least try. So we shucked the diaper and sat back down, and she continued to sit there off and on (climbing up and down was apparently the best part) for about 30 minutes. Unfortunately we didn't get anything appropriate in the toilet (in the climbing up process, her right leg was successfully baptized though), but I think its a start! I hate to admit it, but I'm also afraid we may have to resort to an actual potty chair (aka - mini bedside commode to anyone who's ever worked in a hospital). The whole idea of a potty chair absolutely grosses me out to no end, but she's still a little too short to climb up onto the toilet by herself without getting any limbs in the water. So I figure, if it works, I'll suck it up and get one.
Hey, this isn't so bad. Note that Thumper had to come along for this new adventure, I'm sure he was thrilled.
Photo Ops
Here are just some fun random pictures from this past weekend. Enjoy!
I was trying to get a sweet picture of the two of them, but Taylor was more interested in pointing out her sinuses.
Hooray! We can make a porn-star ponytail! In a few months I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get the rest of it in the rubber band too.
What? This isn't how you eat your Beefaroni?

Sleep Wars
The last few days have been tired ones in the Robinson house. Taylor has suddenly decided that 5:30 a.m. is a perfectly acceptable wake up time for her, and therefore Jody and me too. The kicker is that she usually goes to bed around 9:30 and sleeps until 7:30. Once in a while she does get up in the night to come check on us (At least that's the only sense I can make of her late night visits to our room. She gets up in the bed, lays there for about 15 minutes, then is ready to go back to her own bed.), but typically she's hung in there as being an awesome sleeper. But the last few days, even before the early mornings started, she has been fighting me to go to bed between 8:00-8:30.
At first this was awesome, what pregnant woman doesn't love going to bed a little early? But after the early wake-ups started, I decided it wasn't worth it in the long run. So, last night Jody and I were able to kind of tag team it and we managed to get Taylor to stay up until 9:15. I thought we were golden, and in a sense we were. She totally slept til 8:00 (Hallelujah!), but when I went to check on her last night before I went to bed this is what I found:

At first I really thought the Boogey Man had finally come out into the public and was trying to drag my child back under the bed to his lair (I figured he gave up once he realized how damn heavy she is.). But I guess she was making a final attempt to wreak havoc in her room one final time before bed and just tuckered out before she really made it.
As for the rest of the sleep battles, even though we had the issue with Taylor licked last night, a new battle arose with Jody. We stayed up until around 12:00 watching a movie, and after we went to bed he kept complaining of indigestion. Considering we had greasy eggrolls and he had a couple of beers with dinner, I wasn't terribly shocked. Heartburn is a frequent visitor in our household. But then at 4:00 a.m. (What is it with my family and these early-ass hours?), I awoke to my husband darting out of bed and across the house to the bathroom. Yep, you guessed it - stomach bug. Poor guy was up, which meant that I was up, every hour until 7:30. Fortunately it seems to have subsided, at least enough to where he's able to hold down food again. But needless to say, the three of us are exhausted. So, if anyone has any good remedies (or tranquilizers) that they would like to share, any input is appreciated.

Round II, First Sonogram
Yesterday we had our first sonogram to make sure that everything is on track with this pregnancy. The only reason for concern was that it seems like I've gotten bigger faster. I swear, I got a positive pregnancy test on a Friday, and by Tuesday I couldn't button my pants. Plus, I've already felt a few little movements, and usually that doesn't happen until later either. Even though I know I'm pregnant, which means I'm harboring another human whether I like it or not, it still hasn't really clicked. Even when I saw that little alien pop up on the monitor it was like watching it in a movie or something. I know it's going to finally all set in once Jr. really gets to rocking and rolling and kicking the crap out of my ribs, but for now it just seems so surreal.
But anyhoo, on to the facts. Baby is right on track with our original due date of July 19 (almost exactly 6 months to go, woohoo!), there's only one, and baby is currently weighing in at a whopping 3 oz. No gender info yet, it's still too early for that, but we should hopefully get that news when we go back for the full anatomy scan in March. Until then, here's a sneak peek of Baby Dos!

Here's the full body, you can see the head and torso, complete with knees and elbows!

Ok, the pecan looking thing to the left is the head, and the other circle to the right is the abdomen.
